Exploring Prayers

A Closer Look at Prayer

There are absolutely two schools of thought when it comes to the power of prayer. On the one hand there are those who absolutely believe that prayer changes things in their lives. These people believe that the power of prayer is limitless and can change everything from broken finances to broken marriages and broken hearts to broken bones.

There are those who believe the power of prayer is the only thing that can deliver them from the throws of an addition and/or the ravaging of cancer. There are also those who do not believe prayer makes a difference at all. Scientific studies, in some cases, have shown that some patients who were aware that folks were praying for them had a higher rate of post-operative complications.

Other studies however, indicated just the opposite. One particular study showed that patients in a blind study who did not know they were being prayed for were healthier than those who had not. These patients required less medication and fewer illness related procedures to recover. The group that did not receive intercessory prayer recuperated slower and required more medication and procedures to aid their recuperation.

Believers give prayer credit for saving marriages, dispelling stress, helping one to raise good kids and even enjoying a successful career. Throughout history, believers have turned to their faith during times of crisis. Prayer is the believer’s way of communicating with a higher power and brings about a sense of divine peace in their lives.
