There are those who believe the power of prayer is endless. Believers believe that prayer affords them the opportunity to communicate with a supernatural being and to ask that being to intercede in the external world on their behalf or the behalf of a loved one.
There are those who believe that prayer can cure illnesses, reduce crime, defeat enemies, end wars, and save marriages. Intercessory prayer asks for a favor – asks that God fix whatever the problem may be to the liking of those involved.
Another type of prayer is the submissive prayer. This type of prayer only asks that God’s will be done. No matter the problem a submissive prayer is based on the premise that fate has already been decided by God or the higher power and no matter the outcome the submissive believer is willing to accept the consequences, no questions asked.
There have been cases that the scientific world could not explain where a patient was diagnosed with a fast growing tumor only to have that same patient return for follow-up tests and find the tumor has totally disappeared or has shrunk tremendously. The patient attributes this to the power of prayer and deems it a miracle performed by God. If there are no scientific explanations, how are doctors to argue the point?
Those who pray are said to open the gates to the supernatural and to have a closer relationship to God and in turn open the gates for God to feel closer to them. It becomes an intimate relationship with the creator, if you are a believer. Once the doors or gates are opened, followers believe that God has the power to do all things. Thus, they are calmed in their faith and prayer that He will make everything alright.
