Exploring Prayers

Prayers For Everyone

"For me prayer is a surge of the heart, it is a simple look towards Heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy." - Saint Therese of Lisieux

Prayer is the building block of many faiths. The most common prayers worldwide are “The Lord’s Prayer” the “23rd Psalm”, and the “Serenity Prayer”. These prayers speak of faith, hope and love.

The “Holy Rosary” contains several popular prayers, the Apostles Creed, the Our Father, the Hail Mary, the Glory Be, Fatima Prayer, and the Hail Holy Queen. The rosary consists of 5 decades of beads meditating on the Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious, and Luminous mysteries on life of Jesus Christ. The rosary is a prayer that uses the whole body, meditating on Holy Scriptures, voicing scripture and physically keeping pace with your hands. Since the thirteenth century, the rosary has been a worldwide communal prayer.

The “Chaplet of The Divine Mercy” is a combination of prayers to pray for salvation, especially for the dying person. Jesus promises to intercede for us. This is a powerful prayer of great hope.

The “Jesus Prayer”, recited unites us with God. “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner”. This prayer is widely used at church services and in the confessional.

Prayer is simply heartfelt conversation with God, Jesus, Mary, or any saint. Prayers could be smiling at a person walking on the street, offering a helping hand, giving someone a hug or volunteering your time. Developing a personal relationship through prayer is the best prayer ever prayed.
