Exploring Prayers

God Can Hear You

If you know how to talk and listen, you know how to pray. Prayer is somewhat like meditation in that it is a way to relax and achieve focus. Unlike meditation, though, it is not directed inward but to God. It must be more than a thing that you do; it has to become an attitude, a constant pursuit and a way of life.

Let go of internal blocks that might hinder your ability or desire to pray. Don’t think that outside forces have the ability to make you happy or that you are undeserving of God's blessings. Develop a conscious desire to see spiritual things happening around you and to you. Avoid thoughts that are negative and undermine what you are trying to accomplish, get your body involved by keeping your head up both physically and figuratively.

If you truly want God to hear you, don't try to use scripted or published prayers. These are good for examples, even The Lord's Prayer was given to us for use as an example, but people should pray from their hearts about things concerning their lives and spirituality.

Use prayer that actually talks to God. Pray in a way that is sincere and authentic. Go to your heavenly Father the way that you would want your kids to come to you or in a way that you would go to your earthly Father. Don't pray to impress others, do it to improve yourself and your relationship with God. Remember God will always hear and answer your prayers, the answer just might be a "no" or "later".
