Prayer is a powerful thing because when we pray we are having a conversation with God about something that He did for us or something that we need from Him. When we pray we recognize that the presence of God is here with us. We also strengthen that recognition in knowing that God is here with us which draws us closer to Him. This is why the Church recommends us to pray daily and to make prayer an important part of everyday life. Saint Paul tell us that we are to pray without ceasing yet in today's world, sometimes prayer is the last thing that we do. An active prayer life is essential in our growth in Grace.
There are several types of prayer and several reasons to pray. There is The Lord's Prayer, a prayer of Thanksgiving, prayers of love, prayers for Healing, prayers of Adoration, prayers of Petition, Intercessory prayer, and prayers of Expiation. God instructed us how to pray by giving us the Lords Prayer, which should be prayed daily. In praying the Lords prayer, you are asking for forgiveness of your sins.
The prayer of Agreement, according to Matthew 18:19, Jesus said when two or more people on earth agree on anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father which is in Heaven. Where two or more people are gathered together in God's name, He is there with them. This is a very strong prayer because all are in agreement. The prayer of faith is also very powerful. If you ask the Lord for something and you believe that you will receive it, then you will receive it if it is according to God's will.
