Prayer is an important part of a Christian's life. Faith in believing that God hears and answers prayer because He is concerned about us is comforting. Many believe in the power of prayer and that things happen as a result of praying. Some are skeptical that there is a God who answers but at the same time are at a loss to explain extraordinary phenomena. People have miraculously recovered from terminal illnesses that go beyond human explanation. There are numerous examples written in the Bible that tells of God's response to prayer. It also says that God is the same today as He was then. He is still in the business of answering the prayers of the faithful.
People have to recognize the power of God, that He can do beyond all that can be asked or imagined. Faith is the key element to prayers being answered. God knows the content of the condition of the heart. The words of the prayer are not what prompts God to answer. He knows what is on our heart even before we ask. The Holy Spirit, which is present in every believer in Christ, prompts us to pray according to the will of God.
A group of people praying together on one accord also prompts God to act. Things happen when God's people pray. Healing, wisdom, direction, protection from harm, safe travel, provision, strength and courage are some things for which people pray. Some things will only be accomplished through prayer. God answering prayers show that He can make the impossible possible.
